What makes us different?

Shimmer Creative offer a very rare combination of creative branding and vision, media experience, sales and business strategy, combined with meticulous organisational skills and process management.

We are literally left brain and right brain coming together to meet you on whichever side suits you best; to help you with whatever it is your business or idea needs most.

Our joy lies in giving you practical, actionable advice and the right contacts, so we can watch you succeed. It’s as simple as that.

We love helping creative people with big, bold ideas, to do more creating so they can go forth and shine their light out into the world.

We’ve also both been where you are before and we’ve worked for your target market. We’ve had a product or great idea but needed help to make it happen. Help that wasn’t available – hence Shimmer Creative was born.

We thrive on uncovering solutions, creating something from nothing and turning messes into ‘miracles’.

Why?

We like to make the seemingly impossible, possible: because the world needs more businesses with bold views and a social conscience.

Sarah Knight

Chief Change Agent Sarah Knight

Shimmer Creative’s Chief Change Agent, Sarah Knight, grew up in regional Victoria on a dairy farm. It was the kind of environment where hard work and business management were a daily reality, as was the seemingly impossible, or unlikely.

Through many challenges, she learnt anything was possible if you worked hard enough, or wanted it badly enough – and telling her she couldn’t only made her more determined.

A poet by nature and a journalist by trade, Sarah fell deeply in love with words at a very young age.

“It took me many years, but I learnt that words are power, not to better yourself above others.”

“Moreso – I learnt, your words; they give you something only an artist would understand, the power to express yourself beyond your current perceived value.”

What inspired her, beyond words, was the passion of the people in the many regional, remote and rural communities in which she’s lived. Growers and business people who put their heart and souls into what they did, those who battled through, no matter what life or mother nature threw at them.

After working within many industries right across the country, including hospitality, fine wine, media and entertainment, Sarah setup Shimmer Creative as a vehicle to help those who inspire her most – people with passion and those wanting to create social change.

A Fairley Leadership Program graduate (2014), Sarah simultaneously worked in Community Development and the NFP sectors, developing brands and creating the mechanisms required to build significant, sustainable enterprises.

Now living in the Byron Shire, Sarah is well known locally as the person you go to when you want to get things done.

Creative Director Karin von Behrens

Shimmer’s Creative Director Karin von Behrens grew up in Canberra, surrounded by books, activists and art.

Years of reading magical, tragic and moral-laden stories, and weeks spent with a paintbrush in hand, taught her that the power of the imagination was both endless, and rarely used to its full potential in day-to-day life.

Inspired by artists, playwrights, dancers and costume designers; Karin dove into a variety of universities and creative industries: including theatre design, film and animation, before moving towards radio, social media marketing and finally print journalism.

It was from beneath the weight of multiple deadlines on multiple newspapers that her by then ingrained cynicism, met slightly uncomfortably with Sarah’s effervescent optimism, as Sarah arrived to work alongside her at the local paper.

Cynicism lost.

The two quickly realised, while interviewing hundreds of small business owners, that most small business owners had lost sight of their passion and needed help; and there was a better way to offer it.

Karin and Sarah have a common desire to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, to make the seemingly impossible, possible and to find a way around roadblocks, self-defeat and cynicism.

They aim to help people transform their world and inspire change, even small, personal changes
